Sensei Alexander Dobrev was born on May 27th 1977 in the city of Burgas. He has been training martial arts since 1988. He has trained Karate Shotokan and Taekwondo. He started training Aikido in 1990.
He earned the rank of 1st dan in April 1995, tested by Sensei Joshiaki Jokota 6th dan. He earned the rank of 2nd dan in November 1999, tested by David Miller 5th dan (who was Shihan Fumio Toyoda's student). Sensei Dobrev earned the rank of 3rd dan in November 2003, tested by Andrew Sato 5th dan (who was also Shihan Toyoda's student). He earned the rank of 4th dan in Oktober 2007, tested by Andrew Sato Sensei. On the 9th January 2015 Aikikai Hombu Dojo awarded him 5th dan at the traditionally held ceremony Kagamibiraki. On the 9th January 2022 Aikikai Hombu Dojo awarded him 6th dan at the traditionally held ceremony Kagamibiraki.
Since 2000 Sensei Alexander Dobrev has also been training intensely karate Rikujin-ryu. He has had red belt 2nd kyu so far.
Sensei Dobrev founded Shudokan Dojo in 1998. The name of the club was given by Shihan Fumio Toyoda 6th dan and at that time it was one of the first clubs in Varna.
